Yes, a 2 year manufactures warranty and SSM of North America is a full service provider for USA, Canada, and Mexico.
5. Is there recurring maintenance?
Very little. Keep it clean and after approximately 200-250 sharpenings the grinding wheel will need to be replaced. It is a 3-5 minute procedure to swap out a grinding wheel. The dressing diamonds will need to be replaced but not as much as the grinding stones. Approximately with every 3rd grinding stone a new dresser will be required. Replacing the diamond takes less than a minute. There is no other preventative maintenance required. It is made of fine Swedish qulity, built to last. The machine has a proven track record of running strong for up to 25-30 years and more with only periodically changing grinding wheels and diamonds, if used in accordance with operating instructions.
6. What are the shipping costs?
Aproximately $40-$45 anywhere in the US. Canada must add duty, border tax for a total of about $95-120 USD. Exact details on shipping to your location will be provided.
7. Can SSM machines Profile?
Yes. There is a SSM machine specifically for profiling called the Profiler. Also, a very cost effective profiling solution exists with the SSM-2. A special SM-6 holder attachment for the SSM-2 is available. For more information on the profiler: Profiler and SM-6.
8. Will the SSM-2 sharpen figure skates, small hockey and goalie skates?
It is fine with all types of figure skates or hockey skates. Some very small skates require that you use the H-10 holder.
9. Can the SSM-2 provide a flat Bottom V edge?
Not at this time. Numerous studies have been performed and SSM does not believe the FBV, compared to the superior edge that is currently provided, offers skaters that much of an added advantage.
10. Can the SSM-2 be used as a permenant sharpener?
Absolutely! There is no limit to the number or duration of sharpening with the SSM-2.
